Creating a 3D bag of beans
There is nothing quite like lounging on a large cosy bean bag to watch your favourite film on a large screen TV. So it was with great pleasure, we took over the production of a 3D cinema room that included 3D visualisation of a bean bag.
Our client, Trevillion Interiors managed to design a modern interior for an in-house cinema room that included a designer bean bag (six to be exact) to add to this relaxed, cinematic atmosphere.
The 3D bean bag needed to portray materials of a robust feel but an inviting and cosy look. This required careful rendering, appropriate texturing, effects, and clever room lighting to visualise a photo-realistic piece of furniture.
At our 3D studio, the bean bag creation commenced by creating a 3D model mesh and a support back to host the item. Using latest technology, the bean bag was then shaped and moulded using a figure to gain correct depths and creases to provide a seated-in look.
The carefully sculptured bean bag was then treated with specific furniture materials to add texture and depth.
The client-specified flower design was then placed over the textured bean bag to produce the final bean bag image.
The final CGI of the whole cinema room was visualised in 3D with other room furnishings and materials. Our client ensured that the all important instructions were given to us, to include popcorn and drinks near seating areas. We experimented with visual angles and finally treated it with light to create mood and ambience.
Latest 3D technology was then used for final touch-ups to gain a photo-realistic look which made the whole cinematic image come to life.
